Tennis coaching

The club runs a full coaching programme for adults and children from school age upwards, there are classes to suit all levels from complete beginner to team players.

It is not necessary to be a member to take part in the coaching.

All our coaches are qualified, licensed, DBS checked and have all relevant first aid qualifications. They follow a set programme designed by the LTA to give variety and allow your child to progress at his or her own speed. With smaller courts, nets and rackets and lower bouncing balls, Mini Tennis offers the perfect introduction to the sport, with all the fun and energy of the real thing.

Mini Tennis Red
age 8 and under

Mini Tennis Red

Mini Tennis Red is for players aged 8 and under. It is played on small courts with short rackets and soft balls. It’s just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots.

Mini Tennis Orange
age 8 and 9

Mini Tennis Orange

Played with shorter rackets, softer balls and courts are bigger and wider than the red stage but still smaller than full-size tennis courts allowing players to develop a rounded game whilst learning a range of techniques and tactics.

Mini Tennis Green
age 9 and 10

Mini Tennis Green

Played on a full size tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls which are a little softer than yellow balls. It’s the next stage before moving on to full compression balls on a full sized court and helps players develop all aspects of their game.

Junior Tennis Coaching: Age 12 years upwards

From about 11 years upwards children are coached with standard tennis balls on a full size court. Maximum class size is 8 on two courts, with lessons usually lasting one hour. Children progress through different levels and there is a great deal of flexibility, allowing them to change groups if they progress at a different speed from others in the group.

Adult coaching

We offer daytime, evening and weekend coaching and cater for all abilities – from beginners to advanced. Group sizes are 8 on two courts.
